Kingdom in the Gospels
Findings:
Kingdom of heaven is only found in the Matthew Gospel.
Kingdom of Heaven is the offer of the promised
Messiah to rule from Temple
Jerusalem. Israel already had an earthly
kingdom, now they were being
offered a better Kingdom, a
heavenly one. They elected to keep their
earthly kingdom. The Matthew
Gospel is written to Israel Jews
in particular, hence the kingdom distinctions.
Kingdom in Matthew is
found more than any other
Gospel.
