Biblical Concept: The Will of Man

1) Genesis 2:16; God let man “eat freely.”

2) Genesis 2:19b; God let man name the animals, “to see what he would
    call them.”

3) Genesis 3:22; God let mankind become even more like Him. Free will
    implied. Compare Genesis 1:26-28.

4) John 1:13; The Apostle John said that man has a will.

5) 1 Corinthians 7:37; The Apostle Paul said that man, “has authority
    over his own will.”  Compare Romans 7:15-25.

6) Hebrews 10:26;  The writer of Hebrews said that man has the ability
    to: “go on sinning willfully.”  Compare Ephesians 2:13 and 1 Peter 4:3.

7) 2 Peter 1:21; Peter said: “no prophecy was ever made by an act of
    human will.” (Implying that man does have a will.)

8) Conclusion: God’s sovereignty, counsel, foreknowledge,
    predestination, calling and election included the will of man.  Compare
    Ephesians 1:3-6 with 1:13.
