BIBLICAL CONCEPT: Drinking

1) Proverbs 23:20-21; “Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine. . .”
    Heavy drinkers, poverty and drowsiness.  Compare Ecclesiastes
    10:18-19.

2) Proverbs 31:4-5; Rulers and drinking prohibitions.

3) Proverbs 31:6-7; “Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine
    to him whose life is bitter.  Let him drink and forget his poverty,  and
    remember his trouble no more.”  Compare Ecclesiastes 2:3.

4) Ephesians 5:18; “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is
    dissipation, but be filled with the Holy Spirit.”  Compare Romans
    13:13.

5) 1 Timothy 3:3a, 8; Overseers and deacons are not to be addicted to
    wine.

6) 1 Timothy 5:23; Paul instructed Timothy to take a little wine for his
    stomach.

7) Luke 7:33-34; Jesus drank wine.

8) John 2:1-11; Jesus turned water into wine.

9) Deuteronomy 24:23-26; Wine and strong drink were part of the yearly
    tithe and rejoicing before the Lord.

10) Psalm 104:15a; “And wine which makes man’s heart glad. . .”

12) Numbers 6:20; After completion of their vow, Nazirites could drink
      wine.
