Biblical Concept: Truly Amen

Observations:

 

• The Old Testament vocabulary (!mea') demonstrates that saying “Amen” is saying “I believe it.”  See Genesis 15:6, Psalm 27:13, Psalm 119:66; and many more.

 

• Jesus utilized the emphasis of “truly” during His public ministry.  Particularly “truly, truly” in John’s Gospel account.  Every human is challenged with the ‘truth’ claims   

  of Jesus. 

 

• One of Jesus’ names is “Amen.”  See Revelation 3:14.

 

• “Amen” is an oath of spiritual obedience.  See Deuteronomy 27:15ff, and many more.

 

• “Amen” is a response to the glories of God.  See Psalm 72:19 and Psalm 106:48.

 

• “Truly” can be part of a spiritual warning.  See Matthew 6:2, and many more.

 

• “Truly” can be part of a spiritual blessing.  See Matthew 10:42.

 

• “Amen” is a concluding comment / remark of agreement.  See Philippians 4:20; and many, many more.
