Biblical Concept: Sickness

Prologue: Genesis 3:17-19 ¹⁷ Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. ¹⁸ "Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you shall eat the plants of the field; ¹⁹ By the sweat of your face You shall eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return." (Sickness is a big part of returning to dust. Volitional rebellion leads to sickness, leads to dust. Angelic attack, then rebellion, then sickness, then dust.)

Sickness Theorem: Fallen angels → volitional rebellion → sickness curse → disobedience sickness → various sickness → fallen angels and sickness → sickness orientation → martyrdom sickness and reward.

⁵ Now the LORD had said to Ahijah, "Behold, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. You shall say thus and thus to her, for it will be when she arrives that she will pretend to be another woman."

^NAS 1 Kings 17:17 Now it came about after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him.

^NAS 2 Kings 13:14 When Elisha became sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over him and said, "My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!"

^NAS Ezekiel 34:4 "Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed, the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you sought for the lost; but with force and with severity you have dominated them.

¹⁹ Now it came about in the course of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels came out because of his sickness and he died in great pain. And his people made no fire for him like the fire for his fathers.

Sicknesses
