Biblical Concept: Savior
Observations:
The word savior suggests a
situation of need. This is certainly
true of the human condition. Humanity,
created by God to serve Him in the Angelic Conflict, was initially deterred by
the fallen 1/3 angels (Genesis 3). God
overcame this fallen 1/3 angel interference with the actions of a Savior:
Hebrews 2:14-18 14 Since then the children share in
flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through
death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the
devil; 15 and might deliver
those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. 16 For assuredly He does not give
help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. 17 Therefore, He had to be made
like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful
high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of
the people. 18 For since He
Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the
aid of those who are tempted.
Humanity can serve God once again by believing in Jesus Christ as their
needed Savior.
NAS 1 John 4:14 And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son to
be the Savior of the world.
The Bible references below describe a temporal earthly Savior or an
eternal Savior. A good number of the New
Testament references look to a future return of the Savior Jesus Christ.
There are a good number of references declaring God / Jesus Christ as the
only Savior—temporal or eternal. It is no small thing that One of the Triune God
became man—God-Man-Savior—to provide salvation to fallen humanity.
NAS Luke 2:11 for today in the city of David there has been born
for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
There are good number of references concerning the need for the Believer
to learn about the Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18 18 but grow in the grace and
knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

NAS 2 Samuel 22:3 My
God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold and my refuge; My savior, Thou dost save me from violence.

NAS Psalm 106:21 They
forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt,

will become a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for
they will cry to the LORD because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior
and a Champion, and He will deliver them.
NAS Isaiah 43:3
"For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have

NAS Isaiah 49:26
"And I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will
become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And all flesh will know
that I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of
Jacob."
NAS Isaiah 60:16
"You will also suck the milk of nations, And will suck the breast of
kings; Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer,
the Mighty One of Jacob.
NAS Isaiah 63:8 For He
said, "Surely, they are My people, Sons who will not deal falsely."
So He became their Savior.
NAS Jeremiah 14:8
"Thou Hope of Israel, Its Savior in time of distress, Why art Thou like a
stranger in the land Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the

been the LORD your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know
