Biblical Concept: Sanctification

ª Sanctification is the verbal form of holiness. Sanctification is the process of holiness.  The  Person of God is holy, no sanctification process is needed. 

ª Sanctification is the process by which a human is made holy by God, and is then eternally acceptable to Him.  Thus the name Saints.

ª The cross of Christ has provided eternal sanctification for humans.  Only God can provide  sanctification for humans. 

ª A human’s eternal spiritual sanctification occurs through the Person and work of Jesus Christ and the human’s nonmeritorious belief in Him.

ª Faith in Christ = sanctification.

ª Faith in Christ = sanctification = an immediate spiritual inheritance.

ª Working for one’s eternal spiritual sanctification is spiritually ridiculous.  No human can satisfy  the holiness of a holy God.

ª Christ founded and sanctified His church.

ª The first step of prayer is to declare God holy, sanctified.

ª Being a believer (sanctified) provides the potential for spiritual growth through God’s word of grace.

ª Spiritual growth = sanctifies.

ª Sanctification is spiritually serious.

NAS Hebrews 10:10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  (Faith in Christ = sanctification.)

 

 14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.  (Faith in Christ = sanctification.)

 

 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?  (Sanctification is spiritually serious.)

 

NAS Hebrews 13:12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.  (Jesus’ sanctification of the cross.)

 

NAS 1 Peter 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;  (Sanctification is spiritually serious.)

 

NAS Revelation 22:11 "Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and let the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and let the one who is holy, still keep himself holy."  (Sanctification is volitional.)
