Biblical Concept: Outrageousness

Vocabulary: avse, lgeia literally means “outrageousness.”  The NASB regularly translates it:  “sensuality” and once: “licentiousness.”

The underlines and parentheses are mine.

NAS Mark 7:22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness.  (See the context of 7:1-23.  The human’s nature to sin naturally produces sins of sensuality/outrageousness.  Overt religion, see 7:1-5, does not counter the human’s nature to sin.  Bible Doctrine in the soul counters the human’s nature to be “outrageous.”)

NAS Romans 13:13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.  (See the context of 13:12-14.  See Biblical Concept: Stop acting like an unbeliever.)

NAS 2 Corinthians 12:21 I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, immorality and sensuality which they have practiced.  (See the context of 12:19-21.  Stop acting like an unbeliever.)

NAS Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,  (See the context of 5:16-21, Do not be a spiritual-flesh-failure.  See the context of 5:22-26, Only diligently practiced spirituality can help you in your fight against spiritual-flesh-failure.  See Biblical Concept: Spiritual Empowerment.)

NAS Ephesians 4:19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.  (See the context of 17-18, Stop acting like an unbeliever.  See 4:20-24, apply the Biblical Concept: Attitude of Improvement. )

NAS 1 Peter 4:3 For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousals, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.  (See the context of 4:1-2, Stop acting like an unbeliever.  See Biblical Concept:  Time, waste not.)

NAS 2 Peter 2:2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; (See 2:1-3, Satan has a plan for maligning Christianity.  Stop working for him.  See 2 Corinthians 11:13-15.)

NAS 2 Peter 2:7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men (See the context of 2:4-9 and Genesis 19, Living on the edge of spiritual freedom assaults your own soul.)

NAS 2 Peter 2:18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, (See the context of 2:18-22; Christians who turn away from the holy commandments to outrageousness are slaves, dogs, and pigs.)

NAS Jude 1:4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.  (See the context of vv. 4-10; Do not act like licentious/outrageous religious unbelievers.)

Outrageousness recovery: 1 John 1:9 is not intended for use as a habitual recovery tool from habitual outrageousness.  Theorem: 1 John 1:9 + an attitude of improvement + specific Bible Doctrine in the soul to counter your outrageousness = outrageousness recovery.
