Selah.  3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.  4 Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.  5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD.  6 Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?"     Ecclesiastes 7:1-6 1 A good name is better than a good ointment, And the day of one's death is better than the day of one's birth.  2 It is better to go to a house of mourning Than to go to a house of feasting, Because that is the end of every man, And the living takes it to heart.  3 Sorrow is better than laughter, For when a face is sad a heart may be happy.  4 The mind of the wise is in the house of mourning, While the mind of fools is in the house of pleasure.  5 It is better to listen to the rebuke of a wise man Than for one to listen to the song of fools.  6 For as the crackling of thorn bushes under a pot, So is the laughter of the fool, And this too is futility.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Philippians 3:7-14   7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ,  9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,  10 that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;  11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.  12 Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.  13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
