Prologue: NAS 1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for
me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will
not be mastered by anything.

Master
NAS Genesis 4:7 "If you do well, will
not your countenance be lifted up?
And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for
you, but you must master it." (Master sin.)
NAS Genesis 24:9 So the servant placed his
hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this
matter. (Servant: “Abraham his master”)
10 Then the servant took
ten camels from the camels of his master, and set out with a variety of good
things of his master's in his hand; and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, to

are going to deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, let me

NAS Genesis 27:29 May peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you; Be master of your brothers, And
may your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be those who curse you, And blessed be those who bless you." (Isaac to Jacob:

37 But Isaac answered and
said to Esau, "Behold, I have made him your master, and all his relatives
I have given to him as servants; and with grain and new wine I have sustained

NAS Genesis 39:2 And the LORD was with
Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master,

the LORD was with him and how the
LORD caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.
8 But he refused and said
to his master's wife, "Behold, with me here,
my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put

took him and put him into the jail, the place where the king's prisoners were

NAS Exodus 21:4 "If his master gives
him a wife, and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children
shall belong to her master, and he shall go out alone.
5 "But if the slave
plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as
a free man,'
6 then his master shall
bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his
master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.
8 "If she is
displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he
shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign
people because of his unfairness to her.
32 "If the ox gores
a male or female slave, the owner shall give his or her master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
NAS Deuteronomy 23:15 "You shall not hand
over to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you.
NAS Judges 3:25 And they waited until they
became anxious; but behold, he did not open the doors of the roof chamber. Therefore they took the key and opened them, and behold,
their master had fallen to the floor dead.
NAS Judges 4:18 And Jael went out to meet
Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my master, turn aside to me! Do not
be afraid." And he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him
with a rug.
NAS Judges 19:11 When they were near Jebus, the day was almost
gone; and the servant said to his master, "Please come, and let us turn
aside into this city of the Jebusites and spend the night in it."
12 However, his master
said to him, "We will not turn aside into the city of foreigners who are
not of the sons of Israel; but we will go on as far as Gibeah."
26 As the day began to
dawn, the woman came and fell down at the doorway of the man's house where her
master was, until full daylight.
27 When her master arose
in the morning and opened the doors of the house and went out to go on his way,
then behold, his concubine was lying at the doorway of the house, with her
hands on the threshold.
NAS 1 Samuel 20:38 And Jonathan called after
the lad, "Hurry, be quick, do not stay!" And Jonathan's lad picked up
the arrow and came to his master.
NAS 1 Samuel 25:10 But Nabal answered David's
servants, and said, "Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are
many servants today who are each breaking away from his master.
14 But one of the young
men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, "Behold, David sent messengers
from the wilderness to greet our master, and he scorned them.
17 "Now therefore,
know and consider what you should do, for evil is plotted against our master
and against all his household; and he is such a worthless man that no one can
speak to him."
NAS 1 Samuel 30:13 And David said to him,
"To whom do you belong? And where are you from?" And he said, "I
am a young man of Egypt, a servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me
behind when I fell sick three days ago.
15 Then David said to
him, "Will you bring me down to this band?" And he said, "Swear
to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hands of my
master, and I will bring you down to this band."
NAS 1 Kings 18:7 Now as Obadiah was on the
way, behold, Elijah met him, and he recognized him and fell on his face and
said, "Is this you, Elijah my master?"
8 And he said to him,
"It is I. Go, say to your master, 'Behold, Elijah is here.'"
10 "As the LORD your
God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent to search
for you; and when they said, 'He is not here,'
he made the kingdom or nation swear that they could not find you.
11 "And now you are
saying, 'Go, say to your master, "Behold, Elijah is here."'
13 "Has it not been
told to my master what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the LORD, that
I hid a hundred prophets of the LORD by fifties in a cave, and provided them
with bread and water?
14 "And now you are
saying, 'Go, say to your master, "Behold, Elijah is here"'; he will then kill me."
NAS 1 Kings 22:17 So he said, "I saw all
Israel Scattered on the mountains, Like sheep which
have no shepherd. And the LORD said, 'These have no master. Let each of them
return to his house in peace.'"
NAS 2 Kings 2:3 Then the sons of the
prophets who were at Bethel came out
to Elisha and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your
master from over you today?" And he said, "Yes, I know; be
still."
5 And the sons of the
prophets who were at Jericho
approached Elisha and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take
away your master from over you today?" And he answered, "Yes, I know;
be still."
16 And they said to him,
"Behold now, there are with your servants fifty strong men, please let
them go and search for your master; perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken
him up and cast him on some mountain or into some valley." And he said,
"You shall not send."
NAS 2 Kings 5:1 Now Naaman, captain of the
army of the king of Aram, was a great man with his master, and highly
respected, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram. The man was also
a valiant warrior, but he was a
leper.
3 And she said to her
mistress, "I wish that my master were with the
prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would cure him of his leprosy."
4 And Naaman went in and
told his master, saying, "Thus and thus spoke the girl who is from the
land of Israel."
18 "In this matter
may the LORD pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon
to worship there, and he leans on my hand and I bow myself in the house of
Rimmon, when I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon your servant
in this matter."
20 But Gehazi, the
servant of Elisha the man of God, thought, "Behold, my master has spared
this Naaman the Aramean, by not receiving from his hands what he brought. As
the LORD lives, I will run after him and take something from him."
22 And he said, "All
is well. My master has sent me, saying, 'Behold, just now two young men of the
sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please
give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothes.'"
25 But he went in and
stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, "Where have you been,
Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant went nowhere."
NAS 2 Kings 6:5 But as one was felling a
beam, the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, "Alas,
my master! For it was borrowed."
15 Now when the attendant
of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and
chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my
master! What shall we do?"
22 And he answered,
"You shall not kill them. Would
you kill those you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set
bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their
master."
23 So he prepared a great
feast for them; and when they had eaten and drunk he
sent them away, and they went to their master. And the marauding bands of
Arameans did not come again into the land of Israel.
NAS 2 Kings 8:14 So he departed from Elisha
and returned to his master, who said to him, "What did Elisha say to
you?" And he answered, "He told me that you would surely
recover."
NAS 2 Kings 9:7 'And you shall strike the
house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the
prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of
Jezebel.
11 Now Jehu came out to
the servants of his master, and one said to him, "Is all well? Why did
this mad fellow come to you?" And he said to them, "You know very well the man and his talk."
NAS 2 Kings 10:9 Now it came about in the
morning, that he went out and stood, and said to all the people, "You are
innocent; behold, I conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed
all these?
NAS 2 Kings 18:23 "Now therefore, come,
make a bargain with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two
thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
27 But Rabshakeh said to
them, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these
words, and not to the men who sit on the
wall, doomed to eat their own dung
and drink their own urine with you?"
NAS 2 Kings 19:4 'Perhaps the LORD your God
will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has
sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the LORD your
God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.'"
6 And Isaiah said to
them, "Thus you shall say to your master, 'Thus says the LORD, "Do
not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants
of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.
NAS 1 Chronicles 12:19 From Manasseh also some
defected to David, when he was about to go to battle with the Philistines
against Saul. But they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines
after consultation sent him away, saying, "At the cost of our heads he may defect to his master Saul."

of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against
his master,
NAS 2 Chronicles 18:16 So he said, "I saw all

NAS Esther 1:22 So he sent letters to all
the king's provinces, to each province according to its script and to every

his master, Lest he curse you and you be found guilty.

NAS Isaiah 19:4 "Moreover, I will
deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel master, And
a mighty king will rule over them," declares the Lord God of hosts.

the priest, the servant like his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer
like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.

NAS Matthew 25:19 "Now after a long time

alert-- for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in
the evening, at midnight, at cockcrowing, or in the morning--

"Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at Your bidding
I will let down the nets."
NAS Luke 8:24 And they came to Him and

NAS Luke 9:33 And it came about, as these

NAS Luke 14:21 "And the slave came back and reported this to his master.
Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, 'Go out at
once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and
crippled and blind and lame.'
22 "And the slave
said, 'Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.'

said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be

NAS Luke 16:3 "And the steward said
to himself, 'What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away
from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.
5 "And he summoned
each one of his master's debtors, and he began
saying to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'
8 "And his master
praised the unrighteous steward because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of
this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind
than the sons of light.

NAS John 13:16 "Truly, truly, I say to
you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. (Jesus: “a

NAS John 15:15 "No longer do I call
you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have
called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made
known to you. (Jesus: “the slave does not know what his master is doing”)
20 "Remember the
word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they
persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will

NAS Romans 6:9 knowing that Christ, having
been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master

14 For sin shall not be

NAS Romans 14:4 Who are you to judge the
servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and stand he will,

arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you,
who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who
bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. (False teachers:

NAS Jude 1:4 For certain persons have
crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this
condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness
