Biblical Concept: Definitions of love in 1 John

 

1) Knowing and loving God = applying Bible Doctrine - I John 2:5 and

    5:3.

 

2) Love is a Biblical spiritual mental attitude - I John 2:15 and 5:2

    Compared with Matthew 5:46.

 

3) Love meets physical needs - I John 3:16-18.

 

4) Love initiates - I John 4:10.

 

5) Love and fear are opposites - I John 4:18.

 

6) Biblical love is inclusive*, impersonal, universal to all brethren - I John

    3:14 and 5:2.

 

7) Biblical love needs to be learned - 1 John 4:21.

 

8) Loving other Christians is accomplished by application of Bible

    doctrine - I John 5:1-3 and compare 2 John 5-6.

NAS 1 John 2:5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
