Biblical Concept: Jew,
Jewish, Jews
Vocabulary:
Hebrew - ydIWhy> (Yehudi) = “Jewish, Jew, Judean.” From hd'y" (yadah) = literally “to throw.” In
various contexts it means “to confess openly, and freely, to give thanks and
praise.” “Praised” is the name given to
the fourth son of Jacob* (hd'Why> (Yehudah),
“also of the tribe descended from him, and ultimately applied to the kingdom
and house of David, including Benjamin, in contradistinction to the other ten
tribes or the kingdom of Israel.” Greek - VIoudai/oj (Ioudaios) = “Jewish,
a Jew, Judea.”
*(NAS
Genesis 29:35 And she
conceived again and bore a son and said, "This time I will praise the
LORD." Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.) (Leah)

Jews: Representatives of monotheism in a polytheistic world. (That Jews have existed in the world since
Abraham is the work of God of the Bible.)
Jews: “People of the Book.” A descriptor given by Arabs regarding the Jewish people. (The spiritually
monumental task of receiving and preserving the Word of God.)
John 4:22 "You worship

Samaritans”; a salvation is from the Jews failure. Jesus did not fail: note 4:39-42.) (A person

Jews: Proof of the blinding nature of religion. They saw Divine miracles and rejected them because it did
not follow their religious rules. See John 5:16 below.
Jews: The Divine genetic tool for bringing in a Savior and a Warrior:
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and
the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel. (Yes, Eve was not a Jew.)

Hebrews 2:14-16 14 Since then the
children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the
same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of
death, that is, the devil; 15 and might deliver those who through
fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. 16 For
assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant
of Abraham.
1 John
3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from
the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy
the works of the devil.
Religious Jews: One of Satan’s tools to attack the Christian Church. (Revelation 2:9, Acts 13-14, Titus
1:14) (See Biblical Concept: Comparative Religions, Secular Socialist Lunatic Jews.)
Jews: Promised a Kingdom. Fortunately, Jesus Christ will be on the throne. Israel and Jerusalem will be
evangelistic centers during the Millennial Kingdom. Millions will be born into a perfect environment. A
Jewish Messiah on a temple throne, Israel, Jerusalem, and Jews will evangelize them. Free-will will
refuse this robust evangelistic organization: note Revelation 20:7-9.
Re the Jewish Millennial Kingdom,
see Zechariah 8:23
below.
Zechariah chapter 8 is a remarkable chapter concerning the Jew: what they
are, and what they will be.
What they are: “a curse
among the nations” What they will be:
“a blessing for nations in Jerusalem.”
(Compare Jeremiah 29:18 'And I will pursue them with the sword, with famine and with
pestilence; and I will make them a terror
to all the kingdoms
of the earth, to be a curse, and a horror, and a hissing, and a reproach among
all the nations where I have
driven them,)

13:23 In those days I also saw
that the Jews had married women from Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab. (Cp. Ezra 9:1-4, “the holy race has intermingled with the
peoples of the lands”) (1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But you are a chosen
race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people,
but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have
received mercy.) (The Age of Grace is
the age of a new race.) (When the new race is taken to heaven, the Jewish race
will come to the fore in the Tribulation and Millennium.)
5 Thus the
Jews struck all their enemies with the sword, killing and destroying; and they
did what they pleased to those who hated
them.
22 because
on those days the Jews rid themselves of their enemies, and it was a month which was turned for them
from sorrow into
gladness and from mourning into a holiday;
that they should make them days of feasting and rejoicing and sending portions of
food to
one another and gifts to the poor.
27 the Jews
established and made a custom for themselves, and for their descendants, and
for all those who allied themselves with
them, so that they should not fail to
celebrate these two days according to their regulation, and according to their
appointed time
annually.
28 So these days were to be
remembered and celebrated throughout every generation, every family, every
province, and every city;
and these days of Purim were not to fail
from among the Jews, or their memory fade from their descendants.

NAS Esther
2:5 Now there was a Jew in Susa the capital whose name was Mordecai,
the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite,
NAS Esther
3:4 Now it was when they had
spoken daily to him and he would not listen to them, that they told Haman to
see whether Mordecai's reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a
Jew.
NAS Esther
5:13 "Yet all of this does
not satisfy me every time I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's
gate."
NAS Esther
6:10 Then the king said to Haman,
"Take quickly the robes and the horse as you have said, and do so for
Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting at the king's gate; do not fall short in
anything of all that you have said."
NAS Esther
8:7 So King Ahasuerus said to
Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Behold, I have given the house of
Haman to Esther, and him they have hanged on the gallows because he had
stretched out his hands against the Jews.
NAS Esther
9:29 Then Queen Esther, daughter
of Abihail, with Mordecai the Jew, wrote with full authority to confirm this
second letter about Purim.
31 to establish these days of Purim
at their appointed times, just as Mordecai the Jew and Queen Esther had
established for them, and just as they had established for themselves and for
their descendants with instructions for their times of fasting and their
lamentations.
NAS Esther
10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was
second only to King Ahasuerus and
great among the Jews, and in favor with the multitude of his kinsmen, one who
sought the good of his people and one who spoke for the welfare of his whole
nation.
NAS Jeremiah
34:9 that each man should set
free his male servant and each man his female servant, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew

will make them a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and a
horror, and a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven

(Note these features in chapter 8: Zechariah
8:3 "Thus says the LORD, 'I will return to Zion and will dwell in the
midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the
mountain of the LORD of hosts will be
called the Holy Mountain.' Zechariah 8:8 and I will bring them back, and they will live in the midst of Jerusalem, and they will
be My people and I will be their God in truth and righteousness.' Zechariah
8:11-15 11 'But now I will not treat the remnant of this people
as in the former days,' declares the LORD of hosts. 12 'For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit,
the land will yield its produce, and the heavens will give their dew; and I
will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. 13 'And
it will come about that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of
Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a blessing.
Do not fear; let your hands be strong.' 14
"For thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Just as I purposed to do harm to you
when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,' says the LORD of hosts, 'and I have
not relented, 15 so I have again purposed in these days to do good
to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear!)

3:25 There arose therefore a

24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos,
an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in

2:9 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who
does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,
10 but glory and honor and peace to

17 But if you bear the name
"Jew," and rely upon the Law, and boast in God,
28 For he is not a Jew who is one
outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.
29 But he is a Jew who is one
inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by
the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.
NAS Romans
3:1 Then what advantage has the

23 Then as soon as the copy of King
Artaxerxes' document was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their

force of arms.
NAS Ezra 5:1 When the prophets, Haggai the prophet and
Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and

12 And it came about when the Jews
who lived near them came and told us ten times, "They will come up against

Ahasuerus.
10 Then the king took his signet

13 And letters were sent by
couriers to all the king's provinces to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all

13 Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, "Do not

and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not

which he had devised against the Jews.
5 Then she said, "If it
pleases the king and if I have found favor before him and the matter seems proper to the king and I am
pleasing in his sight, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by
Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews
who are in all the king's provinces.
7 So King Ahasuerus said to Queen
Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Behold, I have given the house of Haman
to Esther, and him they have hanged on the gallows because he had stretched out
his hands against the Jews.
8 "Now you write to the Jews
as you see fit, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for a decree which is written in
the name of the king and sealed with the king's signet ring may not be
revoked."
9 So the king's scribes were called
at that time in the third month (that is, the month Sivan), on the twenty-third
day; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews,
the satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces which extended from India to Ethiopia, 127
provinces, to every province according to its script, and to every people
according to their language, as well as to the Jews according to their script
and their language.
11 In them the king granted the
Jews who were in each and every city the
right to assemble and to defend their lives, to destroy, to kill, and to
annihilate the entire army of any people or province which might attack them,
including children and women, and to plunder their spoil,
13 A copy of the edict to be issued
as law in each and every province, was published to all the peoples, so that
the Jews should be ready for this day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
16 For the Jews there was light and
gladness and joy and honor.
17 And in each and every province,
and in each and every city, wherever the king's commandment and his decree
arrived, there was gladness and joy for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And
many among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the dread of the Jews had
fallen on them.
NAS Esther
9:1 Now in the twelfth month
(that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day when the king's command and
edict were about to be executed, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped
to gain the mastery over them, it was turned to the contrary so that the Jews
themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them.
2 The Jews assembled in their
cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who
sought their harm; and no one could stand before them, for the dread of them
had fallen on all the peoples.
3 Even all the princes of the
provinces, the satraps, the governors, and those who were doing the king's
business assisted the Jews, because the dread of Mordecai had fallen on them.
5 Thus the Jews struck all their
enemies with the sword, killing and destroying; and they did what they pleased
to those who hated them.
6 And in Susa the capital the Jews
killed and destroyed five hundred men,
12 And the king said to Queen
Esther, "The Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men and the ten
sons of Haman in Susa the capital. What then have they done in the rest of the
king's provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall even be granted you. And
what is your further request? It shall also be done."
13 Then said Esther, "If it
pleases the king, let tomorrow also be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to
do according to the edict of today; and let Haman's ten sons be hanged on the
gallows."
15 And the Jews who were in Susa
assembled also on the fourteenth day of the month Adar and killed three hundred
men in Susa, but they did not lay their hands on the plunder.
16 Now the rest of the Jews who were in the king's provinces assembled,
to defend their lives and rid themselves of their enemies, and kill 75,000 of
those who hated them; but they did not lay their hands on the plunder.
18 But the Jews who were in Susa
assembled on the thirteenth and the fourteenth of the same month, and they
rested on the fifteenth day and made it a day of feasting and rejoicing.
19 Therefore the Jews of the rural
areas, who live in the rural towns, make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a holiday for rejoicing and feasting and
sending portions of food to one
another.
20 Then Mordecai recorded these
events, and he sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of
King Ahasuerus, both near and far,
22 because on those days the Jews
rid themselves of their enemies, and it
was a month which was turned for them from sorrow into gladness and from
mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and
rejoicing and sending portions of food to
one another and gifts to the poor.
23 Thus the Jews undertook what
they had started to do, and what Mordecai had written to them.
24 For Haman the son of Hammedatha,
the Agagite, the adversary of all the Jews, had schemed against the Jews to
destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is the lot, to disturb them and destroy
them.
25 But when it came to the king's
attention, he commanded by letter that his wicked scheme which he had devised
against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons
should be hanged on the gallows.
27 the Jews established and made a
custom for themselves, and for their descendants, and for all those who allied
themselves with them, so that they should not fail to celebrate these two days
according to their regulation, and according to their appointed time annually.
28 So these days were to be
remembered and celebrated throughout every generation, every family, every
province, and every city; and these days of Purim were not to fail from among
the Jews, or their memory fade from their descendants.
30 And he sent letters to all the
Jews, to the 127 provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, namely, words of peace
and truth,

12 Then all the Jews returned from
all the places to which they had been driven away and came to the land of
Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and gathered in wine and summer fruit in great
abundance.
15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah
spoke secretly to Gedaliah in Mizpah, saying, "Let me go and kill Ishmael

that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered and the remnant

"It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in

NAS John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named

NAS John 5:1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews,
and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
10 Therefore the Jews were saying
to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath, and it is not permissible for
you to carry your pallet."
15 The man went away, and told the
Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 And for this reason the Jews
were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. (All)
(Jews: Sabbath over miracles.)
18 For this cause therefore the
Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking
the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with
God. (“Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him”)
NAS John 6:4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at
hand.
41 The Jews therefore were
grumbling about Him, because He said, "I am the bread that came down out
of heaven."
52 The Jews therefore began to argue with one another, saying,
"How can this man give us His flesh
to eat?"
NAS John 7:1 And after these things Jesus was walking in
Galilee; for He was unwilling to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking
to kill Him. (Re Jesus: “Jews were seeking to kill Him”)
2 Now the feast of the Jews, the

8:22 Therefore the Jews were
saying, "Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, 'Where I

31 Jesus therefore was saying to
those Jews who had believed Him, "If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
(“Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him”)
48 The Jews answered and
said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a
demon?"
52 The Jews said to Him, "Now
we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My
word, he shall never taste of death.'
57 The Jews therefore said to Him,
"You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?"
NAS John
9:18 The Jews therefore did not
believe it of him, that he had been
blind, and had received sight, until they called the parents of the very one
who had received his sight,

they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed, that if anyone
should confess Him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. (Jewish

NAS John
10:19 There arose a division
again among the Jews because of these words.
24 The Jews therefore gathered
around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in
suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."
31 The Jews took up stones again to
stone Him.
33 The Jews answered Him, "For
a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a
man, make Yourself out to be God."
NAS John
11:8 The disciples said to Him,
"Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going
there again?"
19 and many of the Jews had come to
Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their
brother.
31 The Jews then who were with her
in the house, and consoling her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and
went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her
weeping, and the Jews who came with her, also
weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled,
36 And so the Jews were saying,
"Behold how He loved him!"
45 Many therefore of the Jews, who
had come to Mary and beheld what He had done, believed in Him. (All)
54 Jesus therefore no longer
continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the
country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed
with the disciples. (“Jesus therefore no longer continued to walk publicly

55 Now the Passover of the Jews was
at hand, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the Passover,
to purify themselves.
NAS John
12:9 The great multitude
therefore of the Jews learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus'

18:12 So the Roman cohort and the commander, and the officers of the Jews,
arrested Jesus and bound Him, (“officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus”)
14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had
advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the
people.
20 Jesus answered him, "I have
spoken openly to the world; I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple,
where all the Jews come together; and I spoke nothing in secret.
31 Pilate therefore said to them,
"Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law." The Jews
said to him, "We are not permitted to put anyone to death,"
33 Pilate therefore entered again
into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the
King of the Jews?"
36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom
is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would
be fighting, that I might not be delivered up to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom
is not of this realm."
38 Pilate said to Him, "What
is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and
said to them, "I find no guilt in Him.
39 "But you have a custom,
that I should release someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I
release for you the King of the Jews?"
NAS John
19:3 and they began to come up to Him, and say,
"Hail, King of the Jews!" and to give Him blows in the face.
7 The Jews answered him, "We
have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God." (All)
12 As a result of this Pilate made
efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, "If you release
this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar."
14 Now it was the day of
preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the
Jews, "Behold, your King!"
19 And Pilate wrote an inscription
also, and put it on the cross. And it was written, "JESUS THE NAZARENE,
THE KING OF THE JEWS." ("JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE
JEWS.")
20 Therefore this inscription many
of the Jews read, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city;
and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and in
Greek.
21 And so the chief priests of the
Jews were saying to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews'; but
that He said, 'I am King of the Jews.'" (Jewish speech control.)
31 The Jews therefore, because it
was the day of preparation, so that the bodies should not remain on the cross
on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day),
asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
38 And after these things Joseph of
Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the
body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. He came therefore, and took away
His body. (“a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one, for fear of the Jews”) (Jews, religious fear, relationship.)
40 And so they took the body of
Jesus, and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom
of the Jews.

20:19 When therefore it was

or against the temple or against Caesar."
9 But Festus, wishing to do the
Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem
and stand trial before me on these charges?"
10 But Paul said, "I am
standing before Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no
wrong to the Jews, as you also very
well know.
15 and when I was at Jerusalem, the
chief priests and the elders of the Jews brought charges against him, asking
for a sentence of condemnation upon him.

whom all the people of the Jews appealed to me, both at Jerusalem and here,
loudly declaring that he ought not to live any longer.

hands of the Romans.

against my nation.

dispute among themselves.

3:6 But he disdained to lay hands
on Mordecai alone, for they had told him who
the people of Mordecai were;
therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, who were throughout the whole kingdom of
Ahasuerus.
10 Then the king took his signet
ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the
enemy of the Jews.
13 And letters were sent by
couriers to all the king's provinces to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all
the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the
month Adar, and to seize their possessions as plunder.
NAS Esther
4:3 And in each and every
province where the command and decree of the king came, there was great
mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing; and many lay on
sackcloth and ashes.
7 And Mordecai told him all that
had happened to him, and the exact amount of money that Haman had promised to
pay to the king's treasuries for the destruction of the Jews.
13 Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, "Do not
imagine that you in the king's palace can escape any more than all the Jews.
14 "For if you remain silent
at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place
and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not
attained royalty for such a time as this?"
16 "Go, assemble all the Jews
who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days,
night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way. And thus I will
go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I
perish."
NAS Esther
8:1 On that day King Ahasuerus
gave the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews, to Queen Esther; and Mordecai
came before the king, for Esther had disclosed what he was to her.
3 Then Esther spoke again to the
king, fell at his feet, wept, and implored him to avert the evil scheme of Haman the Agagite and his plot
which he had devised against the Jews.
8 "Now you write to the Jews
as you see fit, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for a decree which is written in the
name of the king and sealed with the king's signet ring may not be
And many
among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the dread of the Jews had fallen
on them.
(All)
6 And in Susa the capital the Jews
killed and destroyed five hundred men,
12 And the king said to Queen
(All)
23 Thus the Jews undertook what
they had started to do, and what Mordecai had written to them.
(All)
28 So these days were to be
remembered and celebrated throughout every generation, every family, every
province, and every city; and these days of Purim were not to fail from among
the Jews, or their memory fade from their descendants.(All)
30 And he sent letters to all the
Jews, to the 127 provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, namely, words of peace
and truth,

12 Then all the Jews returned from

abundance.
15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah
spoke secretly to Gedaliah in Mizpah, saying, "Let me go and kill Ishmael

15 The man went away, and told the
Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 And for this reason the Jews
were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. (All)

48 The Jews answered and said to
Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a

52 The Jews said to Him, "Now
we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My

54 Jesus therefore no longer
continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the
country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed
with the disciples.
55 Now the Passover of the Jews was
at hand, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the Passover,
to purify themselves.
NAS John
12:9 The great multitude
therefore of the Jews learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus'
sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead.
11 because on account of him many
of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.
NAS John
13:33 "Little children, I am
with you a little while longer. You shall seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, I
now say to you also, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.'
NAS John
18:12 So the Roman cohort and the commander, and the officers of the Jews,
arrested Jesus and bound Him,
14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had
advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the
7 The Jews answered him, "We
have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God."
12 As a result of this Pilate made
efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, "If you release
this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar."
14 Now it was the day of preparation
for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews,
"Behold, your King!"
19 And Pilate wrote an inscription
also, and put it on the cross. And it was written, "JESUS THE NAZARENE,
THE KING OF THE JEWS."
20 Therefore this inscription many
of the Jews read, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city;
and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and in
Greek.
21 And so the chief priests of the
Jews were saying to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews'; but
that He said, 'I am King of the Jews.'"
His body.
40 And so they took the body of
Jesus, and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom
of the Jews.
NAS John
20:19 When therefore it was
evening, on that day, the first day of
the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of
the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."
NAS Acts 2:5 Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout
men, from every nation under heaven.
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and
the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and
proselytes,
NAS Acts 6:1 Now at this time while the disciples were
increasing in number, a complaint
arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews
against the native Hebrews,
because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food.
NAS Acts
9:22 But Saul kept increasing in
strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ.
23 And when many days had elapsed,
the Jews plotted together to do away with him,
29 And he was talking and arguing
with the Hellenistic Jews; but they
were attempting to put him to death. (Re Paul: “Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put
him to death.”)
NAS Acts
10:22 And they said,
"Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken of by
the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely
directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you."
39 "And we are witnesses of
all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. And they
also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross.
NAS Acts
11:19 So then those who were
scattered because of the persecution that arose in connection with Stephen made
their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one
except to Jews alone.
NAS Acts
12:3 And when he saw that it
pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. Now it was during the days
of Unleavened Bread.
NAS Acts 13:5 And when they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the
synagogues of the Jews; and they also had John as their helper.
43 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of
the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them,
were urging them to continue in the grace of God.
45 But when the Jews saw the
crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began
contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.
50 But the Jews aroused the devout
women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a
persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.
NAS Acts
14:1 And it came about that in
Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a
manner that a great multitude believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.
2 But the Jews who disbelieved
stirred up the minds of the Gentiles, and embittered them against the brethren.
4 But the multitude of the city was
divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
5 And when an attempt was made by
both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to mistreat and to stone
them,
19 But Jews came from Antioch and
Iconium, and having won over the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him
out of the city, supposing him to be dead.
NAS Acts
16:3 Paul wanted this man to go
with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in
those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
20 and when they had brought them
to the chief magistrates, they said, "These men are throwing our city into
confusion, being Jews,
NAS Acts
17:1 Now when they had traveled
through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a
synagogue of the Jews.
5 But the Jews, becoming jealous
and taking along some wicked men from the market place, formed a mob and set
the city in an uproar; and coming upon the house of Jason, they were seeking to
bring them out to the people. (Re Jesus: Jews, jealous, wicked men, mob,
uproar.)
10 And the brethren immediately
sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea; and when they arrived, they went
into the synagogue of the Jews.
13 But when the Jews of
Thessalonica found out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul in
Berea also, they came there likewise, agitating and stirring up the crowds.
17 So he was reasoning in the
synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles,
and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present.
NAS Acts
18:2 And he found a certain Jew
named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife
Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came
to them, (“Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome”)
4 And he was reasoning in the
synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
5 But when Silas and Timothy came
down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting
himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was
the Christ. (Paul: “solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the
Christ.”)
12 But while Gallio was proconsul
of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before
the judgment seat, (“Jews with one accord rose up against Paul”)
14 But when Paul was about to open
his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrong or of
vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;
19 And they came to Ephesus, and he
left them there. Now he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the
Jews.
28 for he powerfully refuted the
Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

NAS Acts
19:10 And this took place for two
years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and
Greeks.
17 And this became known to all,
both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the
name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified.
33 And some of the crowd concluded it was Alexander, since the Jews had put
him forward; and having motioned with his hand, Alexander was intending to make
a defense to the assembly.
NAS Acts
20:3 And there he spent three months, and when a plot was formed against him
by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return
through Macedonia. (Re Paul: “a plot was formed against him by the Jews”)
19 serving the Lord with all
humility and with tears and with trials which came upon me through the plots of
the Jews; (Re Paul: “the plots of the Jews”)
21 solemnly testifying to both Jews
and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
NAS Acts
21:11 And coming to us, he took
Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands, and said, "This is what the
Holy Spirit says: 'In this way the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns
this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.'"
20 And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to
him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of
those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;
21 and they have been told about
you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake
Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to
the customs.
27 And when the seven days were
almost over, the Jews from Asia, upon seeing him in the temple, began to stir up all the multitude and
laid hands on him,
NAS Acts
22:12 "And a certain
Ananias, a man who was devout by the standard of the Law, and well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there,
30 But on the next day, wishing to
know for certain why he had been accused by the Jews, he released him and
ordered the chief priests and all the Council to assemble, and brought Paul
down and set him before them.
NAS Acts
23:12 And when it was day, the
Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves under an oath, saying that they
would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. (“Jews formed a
conspiracy” … “until they had killed Paul”)
20 And he said, "The Jews have
agreed to ask you to bring Paul down tomorrow to the Council, as though they
were going to inquire somewhat more thoroughly about him.
27 "When this man was arrested
by the Jews and was about to be slain by them, I came upon them with the troops
and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. (Re Paul: “this man was
arrested by the Jews and was about to be slain by them”)
NAS Acts
24:5 "For we have found this
man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews
throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. (All)
9 And the Jews also joined in the
attack, asserting that these things were so.
18 in which they found me occupied in the temple, having been
purified, without any crowd or
uproar. But there were certain Jews
from Asia--
27 But after two years had passed, Felix
was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and wishing to do the Jews a favor, Felix left
Paul imprisoned.
NAS Acts
25:2 And the chief priests and
the leading men of the Jews brought charges against Paul; and they were urging
him,
7 And after he had arrived, the
Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and
serious charges against him which they could not prove; (Re Paul: Jews’ perjury.)
8 while Paul said in his own
defense, "I have committed no offense either against the Law of the Jews
or against the temple or against Caesar."
9 But Festus, wishing to do the
Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to
Jerusalem and stand trial before me on these charges?"
24 And Festus said, "King
Agrippa, and all you gentlemen here present with us, you behold this man about
whom all the people of the Jews appealed to me, both at Jerusalem and here,
loudly declaring that he ought not to live any longer.
NAS Acts
26:2 "In regard to all the
things of which I am accused by the Jews, I consider myself fortunate, King
Agrippa, that I am about to make my defense before you today;
3 especially because you are an
expert in all customs and questions among the
Jews; therefore I beg you to listen to me patiently.
4 "So then, all Jews know my
manner of life from my youth up, which from the beginning was spent among my own nation and at Jerusalem;
7 the promise to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they
earnestly serve God night and day.
And for this hope, O King, I am being accused by Jews.
21 "For this reason some Jews seized me in the temple and
tried to put me to death. (All)
NAS Acts
28:17 And it happened that after
three days he called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and
when they had come together, he began saying
to them, "Brethren, though I had done nothing against our people, or the
customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the
hands of the Romans.
19 "But when the Jews
objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar; not that I had any accusation
against my nation.
29 And when he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute
among themselves.
NAS Romans
3:9 What then? Are we better than
they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all
under sin;
29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the
God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,
NAS Romans

from among Gentiles.
NAS 1
Corinthians 1:22 For indeed Jews
ask for signs, and Greeks search for wisdom;

NAS 1

NAS Galatians
2:13 And the rest of the Jews
joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by
their hypocrisy.
14 But when I saw that they were
not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the
presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like
the Jews, how is it that you compel
the Gentiles to live like Jews?
15 "We are Jews by nature, and not sinners from among the Gentiles; (NAS Galatians 2:16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law
but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that
we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since
by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified.) (Window into the Jews’ world.)
NAS 1
