Biblical Concept: Jesus Christ Advocate

 

Prologue: This study will focus on the advocacy of Jesus Christ via the following vocabulary. 

Vocabulary: Parakaleo / parakale,w / para = beside, kaleo = to call.  From the same root: parakletos / para,klhtoj and paraklesis / para,klhsij.

NAS John 14:16 "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (para,klhtoj), that He may be with you forever; (Jesus Christ advocates for another Advocator—the indwelling Holy Spirit.)

 

NAS John 14:26 "But the Helper (para,klhtoj), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. (Jesus Christ advocates for another Advocator—the indwelling Holy Spirit.)

NAS 1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate (para,klhtoj) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; (Jesus Christ stands beside the Father and proclaims, on the Believer’s behalf, His sufficient coverage of their sins.) (The Triune God has nothing to do with sin. The advocacy of Jesus Christ overcomes this situation.)

 

NAS Acts 9:31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and, going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort (para,klhsij) of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. (Relationship: Church, Lord, comfort, Holy Spirit.)

 

NAS Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement (para,klhsij) of the Scriptures we might have hope. (The Scriptures ‘call beside’ the Believer and give hope.) (Relationship: Jesus Christ, Scriptures, perseverance, advocacy / encouragement, hope.)

 

NAS Romans 15:5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement (para,klhsij) grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus; (Relationship: God, advocate / encouragement, spiritual unity, Christ Jesus.)

 

NAS 2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort (para,klhsij) is abundant through Christ. (Advocacy / comfort through Christ.)

 

NAS Philippians 2:1 If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, (Advocacy / encouragement in Christ.)

 

NAS 2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, (Relationship: Lord Jesus Christ, Father, eternal comfort / advocacy, good hope, grace.)
