Biblical Concept:
Government, Good and Evil Control
(End parentheses are mine.)
Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you
want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise
from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if
you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for
it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices
evil. (Government: promote good, punish evil.) (Government could be pretty
simple.)
1 Peter 2:13-17
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every
human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or
to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of
those who do right. 15 For
such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of
foolish men. 16 Act as free men, and do not use your
freedom as a covering for evil, but use
it as bondslaves of God. 17
Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. (Government:
promote good, punish evil.) (Government could be pretty simple.)
Titus 3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to
authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, (Christians are
authority oriented to good.)
Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because the
sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of
the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil. (The consequences of
delayed justice.)
Deuteronomy 21:18-23 18 "If any man has a stubborn and rebellious
son who will not obey his father or his mother, and when they chastise him, he
will not even listen to them, 19 then his father and mother shall
seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his
home town. 20 "And they
shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and
rebellious, he will not obey us, he is a glutton and a drunkard.' 21 "Then all the men of his
city shall stone him to death; so you shall remove the evil from your midst,
and all Israel shall hear of it and
fear. 22 "And if a man
has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him
on a tree, 23 his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but
you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is accursed of
God), so that you do not defile your land which the LORD your God gives you as
an inheritance. (Israel anti-evil governance.) (Remove evil, hear and fear,
relationship.)
