Biblical Concept: God’s Glory

Findings:

God’s Glory: the height, the breadth, the depth of theology.  Understand God’s glory, understand everything. (Compare the Biblical Concept: Glory, The Summary.)

God’s Glory is the Grand Unifying Theory of Theology / Everything. (By the end of my theological career, I had envisioned sort of a grand sentence describing everything. I think I have done it in two words: God’s Glory.) (I could make a case for three words: God’s Holy Glory.  No other words are needed.)

Instead of / in addition to / seeking God’s will, seek His glory.

God’s glory is why God created anything.  He created to glorify Himself.  (A case could be made that God’s other attributes / characteristics would be opposed to creating anything.  The rebellion of volitional beings would be very offensive to God’s holiness, righteousness, justice, etc.  God’s glory won the day,  in eternity past, as the council of God decided to do anything.) (See Biblical Concept: Why did God do anything?)

Creation glories God.

To receive Glory, God created volitional beings.  God knew the good and the bad that would come with volitional beings.  God wanted the good, the glory, so He created.  To counter the bad, God became an active participant among the volitional creatures, in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. The Person and work of Jesus Christ demonstrates that God is worthy of glory from volitional creatures.

John 3:16-21  16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.  17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.  18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  19 "And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.  20 "For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

1 Peter 1:11  11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

John 12:27-33  27 "Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, 'Father, save Me from this hour '? But for this purpose I came to this hour.  28 "Father, glorify Thy name." There came therefore a voice out of heaven: "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."  29 The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him."  30 Jesus answered and said, "This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes.  31 "Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world shall be cast out.  32 "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."  33 But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.
