Biblical
Concept: Faith, All Passages
Prologue: Greek vocabulary - Pistis from peitho meaning: “to persuade,” “to convince.” English translations of the noun forms of peitho translate
it “faith.” The verbal forms of peitho are
translated “believe.” This study looks
at the “faith” translations. (Faith
takes thinking, learning, effort, and education to be “convinced” about the Object
of one’s faith.)

Findings:
Faith is of Divine
invention and design. God requires faith
in humans and faithfully reciprocates.
There are multiples of passages describing God’s faith and God’s designs
for faith function. Why a Divine faith
plan? My opinion: to demonstrate the
faithlessness of 1/3 angels versus the faithfulness of God.
Faith is true religion. Faith needs to be proclaimed and taught. Numerous passages note the connection between
God’s Word and faith. The Faithful One
needs to know God’s Word lest they be left to guess about spiritual things /
faith things.
Faith is counter intuitive,
in that it is a volitional struggle not passive. Faith is counter intuitive, in that faith is
labor intensive. The Christian will
struggle with keeping faith and enduring faith.
Many forces will be against them—Satan’s angels, world, unbelievers,
nations, cities, worries, money, religion, etc.
Faith is counter intuitive,
in that faith itself is of no merit. The
faithful one did not invent faith. The
faithful one did not invent the object of their faith. (Idolatry is the invention of a faith object.)
Credit for proper use of volition is
issued by God.
“Leap of faith” is a misstatement. The faith vocabulary suggests the need for the
free will to be persuaded, convinced.
Faith is inclusive. Any human with a volition can become a
Believer in the Biblical Jesus Christ for eternal life.
Many individuals are named
as being faithful. Well done faithful
servants. Thanks for your examples.
Faith denotes a point of
eternal salvation. Faith also describes
the subsequent life after the point of eternal salvation. Faith is a spiritual growth process. (Many
references.)
It is interesting to note a
few examples of malevolent angels among the faith vocabulary. Faith is the human’s Divinely provided
protection from malevolent 1/3 angels. It is no surprise that faith and suffering are
companions in the Scriptures. (I would
rather have an angelic annihilation weapon, my faith will have to do.)
(Underlines and end parentheses are mine.)
Faith
NAS Deuteronomy 32:51

kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase
greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient

(Eternal salvation faith.)

churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in
number daily. (Apostolic period faith.) (Growing faith.)

faith.) (Apostolic period faith.)

their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion
of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an
inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.' (Right
faith.)
NAS Romans 1:5 through
whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience
of faith among all the Gentiles, for His name's sake, (Eternal salvation
faith.) (Right faith.)
8 First, I thank my
God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed
throughout the whole world. (Proclaimed faith.)
12 that is, that I may
be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by
the other's faith, both yours and mine. (Faith encouragement.)
17
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to
faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live
by faith." (Growing faith.) (Faith after eternal salvation.)
NAS Romans 3:22 even the
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those
who believe; for there is no distinction; (Eternal salvation faith.) (Faith is
inclusive.) (Faith righteousness.)
25 whom God displayed
publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over
the sins previously committed; (Eternal salvation faith.) (Faith propitiation.)
26 for the
demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, that He
might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Eternal
salvation faith.) (Faith justification.)
27 Where then is
boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of
faith. (A law of faith.)
28 For we maintain
that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. (A law of
faith.)
30 since indeed God
who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith
is one. (Faith justification.)
31 Do we then
nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish
the Law. (Faith establishes Law.)
NAS Romans 4:5 But to
the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his
faith is reckoned as righteousness,
(Faith righteousness.)
9 Is this blessing
then upon the circumcised, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say, "Faith
was reckoned to Abraham as righteousness." (Faith righteousness.)
11 and he received the
sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he
had while uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all who believe without
being circumcised, that righteousness might be reckoned to them, (Faith
righteousness.)
12 and the father of
circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also
follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while
uncircumcised. (Faith is inclusive.)
13 For the promise to
Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not
through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. (Faith
righteousness.) (Faith heirs.)
14 For if those who
are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is
nullified; (Faith heirs.)
16 For this reason it
is by faith, that it might be in accordance with grace, in order
that the promise may be certain to all the descendants, not only to those who
are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is
the father of us all, (Faith is
inclusive.)
19 And without
becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead
since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; (Strong faith.)
20 yet, with respect
to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in
faith, giving glory to God, (Strong faith.)
NAS Romans 5:1 Therefore
having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, (Faith justification.)
2 through whom also we
have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand;
and we exult in hope of the glory of God. (Faith grace standing.)
NAS Romans 9:30 What
shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained
righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; (Faith
righteousness.)
32 Why? Because they
did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by
works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, (Stumble over faith alone.)
NAS Romans 10:6 But the righteousness
based on faith speaks thus, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will
ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down), (Faith righteousness.)
8 But what does it
say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart "-- that
is, the word of faith which we are preaching, (Word of faith.)
17 So faith comes
from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (The relationship
between faith and hearing.)
NAS Romans 11:20 Quite
right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith.
Do not be conceited, but fear; (Stand by your faith.)
NAS Romans 12:3 For
through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more
highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound
judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. (Measure of
faith.)
6 And since we have
gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let each exercise them
accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;
(Proportion of faith.)
NAS Romans 14:1 Now accept
the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing
judgment on his opinions. (Weak faith.)
2 One man has faith
that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.
(Weak faith.)
22 The faith which
you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not
condemn himself in what he approves. (Faith conviction.)
23 But he who
doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith;
and whatever is not from faith is sin. (Weak faith.)
NAS Romans 16:26 but now
is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the
commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading
to obedience of faith; (Eternal salvation faith.) (Faith after
eternal salvation.) (Obedience faith.)
NAS 1 Corinthians 2:5
that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of
God. (Faith and power of God relationship.) (Right faith.)
NAS 1 Corinthians 12:9 to
another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the
one Spirit, (Faith Spiritual gift.) (Measure of faith.) (Proportion of faith.)
NAS 1 Corinthians 13:2
And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all
knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not
have love, I am nothing. (Faith love relationship.)
13 But now abide
faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (Faith
love relationship.)
NAS 1 Corinthians 15:14
and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your
faith also is vain. (Faith resurrection relationship.)
17 and if Christ
has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
(Faith resurrection relationship.)
NAS 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be
on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (Firm
faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 1:24 Not
that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for
in your faith you are standing firm. (Firm faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 4:13
But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written,
"I believed, therefore I spoke," we also believe, therefore also we
speak; (Spirit of faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 5:7 for
we walk by faith, not by sight— (Walk by faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 8:7
But just as you abound in everything, in faith and utterance and
knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love we inspired in you, see that
you abound in this gracious work also. (Abound in faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 10:15
not boasting beyond our measure, that is, in other men's labors,
but with the hope that as your faith grows, we shall be, within our
sphere, enlarged even more by you, (Growing faith.)
NAS 2 Corinthians 13:5 Test
yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do
you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you-- unless
indeed you fail the test? (Test your faith.)
NAS Galatians 1:23 but
only, they kept hearing, "He who once persecuted us is now preaching
the faith which he once tried to destroy." (Preach the faith.)
NAS Galatians 2:16
nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but
through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we
may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since
by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified. (Faith in Christ Jesus.)
(Eternal salvation faith.) (Faith justification.)
20 "I have been
crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and
the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me. (Faith after eternal salvation.)
(Live by faith.)
NAS Galatians 3:2 This
is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit
by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? (Faith hearing relationship.)
5 Does He then, who provides
you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the
Law, or by hearing with faith?
(Faith hearing relationship.)
7 Therefore, be sure
that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. (Abraham and
faith.)
8 And the Scripture,
foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the
gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "All the nations shall be
blessed in you." (Faith justification.) (Eternal salvation faith.)
9 So then those who
are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. (Abraham and faith.)
(Faith blessing.)
11 Now that no one is
justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man
shall live by faith." (Live by faith.)
12 However, the Law
is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who practices them shall live by
them."
14 in order that in
Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we
might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Faith blessing.)
22 But the Scripture
has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ
might be given to those who believe.
(Eternal salvation faith.) (Inclusive faith.)
23 But before faith
came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which
was later to be revealed. (Compare: A law of faith.)
24 Therefore the Law
has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by
faith. (Faith justification.)
25 But now that faith
has come, we are no longer under a tutor. (A law of faith.)
26 For you are all sons
of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Faith in Christ Jesus.)
NAS Galatians 5:5 For we
through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of
righteousness. (Faith and hope.)
6 For in Christ Jesus
neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means
anything, but faith working through love. (Faith and hope.)
NAS Galatians 6:10 So
then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to
those who are of the household of the faith. (Faith household.)
NAS Ephesians 1:15 For
this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists
among you, and your love for all the saints, (Faith in Christ Jesus.)

by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it
is the gift of God; (Faith grace saved.) (Eternal salvation faith.)

whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him. (Faith
boldness confidence relationship.)
17 so that Christ
may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted
and grounded in love, (Faith and Divine dwelling.)
NAS Ephesians 4:5 one
Lord, one faith, one baptism, (Right faith.)
13 until we all attain
to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a
mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ. (Faith unity.)
NAS Ephesians 6:16 in
addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be
able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. (Faith
shield.)
23 Peace be to the
brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ. (Faith love relationship.)
NAS Philippians 1:25 And
convinced of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for
your progress and joy in the faith, (Faith joy.)
27 Only conduct
yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ; so that whether I come
and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in
one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
(Right faith.) (Faith focus.)
NAS Philippians 2:17 But
even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and
service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. (Faith
sacrifice and service.)
NAS Philippians 3:9 and
may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law,
but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes
from God on the basis of faith, (Faith righteousness.)
NAS Colossians 1:4 since
we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all
the saints; (Right faith.) (Faith is inclusive.)
23 if indeed you

constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and

Lord has sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also
in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no
need to say anything. (Proclaimed
faith.)
NAS 1 Thessalonians 3:2
and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's fellow worker in the gospel of
Christ, to strengthen and encourage you as to your faith, (Faith
strengthened and encouraged.)
5 For this reason,
when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your
