“Put away” = avrqh,tw / artheto / “lift up” / an imperative aorist passive verb = a strong exhortation to have bitterness “be lifted away.”

“Put away” = Ephesians 4:29-32   29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.  30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.  32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Kind, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, counters bitterness.

Bitter, trouble, defiled, relationship.

Grace counters bitterness.

NAS Genesis 27:34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, "Bless me, even me also, O my father!" (Bitter cry.)
