Biblical Concept: Ask (Farewell / Upper Room Discourse through Epistles)

 

Prologue:

 

Why: Farewell / Upper Room Discourse through Epistles?  Divine communication to / for the New Testament era Believer in Jesus Christ, began with the utterances of Jesus Christ to the Apostles in that upper room. There, Jesus celebrated the Passover before His Cross. The Passover Lamb was about to change. Eras were about to change.  Asking was about to change. 

 

Findings:

 

Relationship: Ask, name of Jesus.

Abide, Jesus’ words, ask, done.

“whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you”

Jesus: “I ask on their behalf”

"I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.”

"I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;”

Paul: “I ask you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf”

“Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,”

Colossians 1:9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

“But let him ask in faith without any doubting”

“You do not have because you do not ask”

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives”

 1 John 3:22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

NAS John 14:13 "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (Relationship: Ask, name of Jesus.)

NAS John 16:23 "And in that day you will ask Me no question. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you shall ask the Father for anything, He will give it to you in My name. (Relationship: Ask, name of Jesus.)

 24 "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full. (Relationship: Ask, name of Jesus.)

 26 "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request the Father on your behalf;

NAS John 17:9 "I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom Thou hast given Me; for they are Thine; (Jesus: “I ask on their behalf”)

NAS Acts 10:29 "That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. And so I ask for what reason you have sent for me."

NAS Romans 10:20 And Isaiah is very bold and says, "I was found by those who sought Me not, I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me."

NAS 1 Corinthians 1:22 For indeed Jews ask for signs, and Greeks search for wisdom;

NAS 1 Corinthians 14:35 And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.

 16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.

NAS 2 John 1:5 And now I ask you, lady, not as writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.
