Findings

 

Theophany = an appearance of God on earth.  These Old Testament occurrences as an Angel of the

     Lord seems to harmonize in form with heavenly angelic beings created by God in eternity past.  God is  

     a Spirit Who dwells in unapproachable light re humans.  Created heavenly angels were given the

     ability to dwell with God with no harm to their being.  Their visage is one of bright white light,

     compatible to the light visage of God.  The Scriptures record that humans who have contact with

     heavenly angels are quite impressed by the visuality of the experience. That God took a form of

    Theophany compatible with His light being and heavenly angelic beings makes sense. Angel of the

     Lord is not always a Theophany but a particular angel.

 18 Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up and build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

 20 Now Ornan turned back and saw the angel, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. And Ornan was threshing wheat.

NAS 2 Chronicles 32:21 And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land.
