Islam - “In the year A.D. 610, in a cave near
Mormonism - “Then, at the age of 14, God and Jesus appeared to
him in a vision. They told him all Christian denominations had fallen away from
the true faith, advised him not to join any of them, and promised to restore
the true faith.” “John the Baptist appeared to Smith and Cowdery sometime
later, ordaining the pair to the Aaronic Priesthood and teaching them water
baptism. Shortly thereafter, the Apostles Peter, Paul and James appeared to the
two, investing them in the Melchizadek Priesthood. This time, Smith and Cowdery
were commissioned as the first two elders of a new church.” (Joseph Smith and visions - religionfacts.com)
‘When
Smith was 17, the angel Moroni appeared to him and told him the location of two
golden plates, on which was written the history of two ancient Native American
Christian tribes. Joseph went to the site and found golden plates written by
Ether, Mormon, Lehi and Nephi (ancient Native American authors), and a brass
plate consisting of Hebrew scripture quotations and genealogies written by
Laban.
Also discovered at the site was a breastplate
and the "Urim and Thummim," a pair of stones that Smith said assisted
him in his translation of the ancient plates. Unfortunately, he was not allowed
to remove the artifacts from the site immediately. He was directed to return to
the site at each Autumn Equinox for four years, until 1827.’ (Joseph Smith and visions - religionfacts.com)
“Worthy Mormons
may become gods to create, rule over and receive worship from their own worlds
some day. They will do this exclusively as the god or the team of gods for that
world or that set of worlds (like the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are for this
world or this set of worlds), and thus the God of this world will not perform
those functions there (Ibid; D&C 76:50-58 and 95, 132:15-23, 29, and 37;
and Gospel Principles, 302 [1997 edition]).” [mormoninfo.org]
“God is an
exalted man, who needed to do certain things in order to become God for
this world (Ibid.; James Talmage, Articles of Faith, 430; and Gospel
Principles, 305 [1997 edition]).” [mormoninfo.org]
“Jesus, like all
other gods before Him, had to become a God. He is the literal Son of God like
we are children of God, but He's without sin (Fielding Smith, The Teachings
of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 346-7 [pre-2002 edition]).” [mormoninfo.org]
The young Korean was stunned by this encounter, and especially by the request
that had been made of him, and at first he refused. However, after deep
reflection, meditation and prayer, he pledged his life to that overwhelming
mission.
After personally accepting Jesus' call, the young man set out to discover its
very meaning. If Jesus called him to complete his mission, it meant that Jesus'
mission was incomplete. Was not salvation through the cross all that man needs?
What was it that Jesus had left undone on earth? If sin is not completely
solved, then what is the actual root of sin?
Sun Myung Moon studied the Bible and many other religious teachings in order to
unravel these mysteries of life and human history. During this time, he went
into ever deeper communion with God and entered the vast battlefield of the
spirit and flesh. Through denying his personal desires he overcame temptations
of knowledge, wealth and physical pleasure. He came to understand God's own suffering
and His longing to be reunited with His children. He learned the difficult
steps that humankind would have to take in order to return to God and establish
true peace on earth.
By 1945, he had organized the teachings which came to be known as the Divine
Principle, and he began his public ministry. The Divine Principle, the
fundamental teaching of Reverend Moon and the
